Associate Tech Lead · Full-Stack & Cloud

I'm an Associate Tech Lead based in Sri Lanka with experience building enterprise-grade web, mobile, and cloud solutions across multiple industries including HR/payroll systems, banking platforms, compliance systems, and telecom infrastructure.

My background spans full-stack engineering with technologies such as React, React Native, TypeScript, .NET, Spring Boot, Azure, and Docker. Over time, my responsibilities expanded beyond engineering into team leadership, delivery ownership, stakeholder alignment, and account-level planning.

One of the most valuable parts of my journey has been learning how engineering decisions connect to business outcomes — balancing delivery quality, team growth, client expectations, and long-term sustainability.

Currently, I'm focused on improving as a technology leader by strengthening communication, decision-making, delivery thinking, and business awareness while continuing to stay technically hands-on.

How I Think About Leadership

A leadership framework introduced by our CEO shaped how I approach engineering leadership today.

I usually think in three connected units:

The Client

Ensuring clients feel confident in delivery

The Company

Supporting organizational goals through sustainable execution

The Team

Creating an environment where engineers can grow and perform effectively

My responsibility is to build trust and alignment across all three. Over time, I've realized that successful delivery is rarely just about writing good code. It's about balancing people, communication, execution, and long-term relationships.

What I'm Currently Focused On
  • ·Improving communication and leadership maturity
  • ·Learning more about delivery strategy and business operations
  • ·Exploring AI-assisted engineering workflows
  • ·Writing more consistently about engineering and leadership
  • ·Building scalable systems with modern full-stack technologies

Career so far

2018

Trainee Software Engineer, hSenid Mobile

Started as a trainee building the TAP Insights dashboard — a data visualisation tool for a Telco Application Platform tracking revenue, traffic, subscriptions, and trending applications. First exposure to React and production frontend development.

Software Engineer, hSenid Mobile

Rejoined hSenid Mobile after completing my degree, moving into full-stack work across web and mobile platforms. Worked across two products: hView (an internal HR and data visualisation platform built with React, Spring WebFlux, GraphQL, and Keycloak) and RemitPlus (a mobile banking app for a leading bank, built with React Native and a React admin dashboard for campaign and user management).

Senior Engineer, hSenid Mobile

Promoted to Senior Engineer in April 2022. Continued on the RemitPlus platform and took on SMSC/SMPP-GW — a high TPS telecom infrastructure project for mission-critical SMS delivery. Took direct ownership of the admin panel with React and Spring WebFlux and collaborated with senior architects on backend improvements.

Senior Software Engineer, Verdentra

Joined Verdentra as a Senior Engineer on an enterprise HR/Payroll modernization engagement for a US-based Fortune 500 client. Contributed to the Dynamic UI framework delivery — a template-driven architecture replacing 50+ legacy pages — working across RBAC implementation, form validation, and delivery stabilisation under a tight deadline. Also led a team of 4 on a staff-augmented project for GitLab, enhancing GLAS (GitLab Advanced SAST) detection coverage across Java, JavaScript, and Go.

Where I'm growing

I completed the AZ-104 (Azure Administrator Associate) certification and am now working toward AZ-305 (Azure Solutions Architect Expert). The certifications matter, but what I am really after is a cleaner mental model of Azure at the architecture level — I want to be more credible in design conversations, not just delivery ones.

The pre-sales side is newer territory. I am running proactive proposals and working with potential clients on POCs. That requires a different kind of communication than engineering work does, and I am still figuring out how to do it well without it feeling like a pitch.

I am also trying to build an AI productivity program across the team. Not just tooling, but changing how people think about where AI fits into their workflow. That is harder to measure than a certification, which is probably why I find it more interesting.

This site is where I document that process: what I am learning, what I am building, and occasionally what I got wrong. Not a resume. More like a working log.
